Overview
Northleaf’s experience has demonstrated that there is significant value to be gained from a robust monitoring, reporting and risk management system. In addition to conducting ongoing risk monitoring, quarterly portfolio reviews and providing investors with accurate and informative reports on performance and the investment portfolio, the Investment Team’s monitoring program reinforces existing relationships with fund managers and syndicate partners, generates market and industry intelligence which contributes to the Investment Team’s due diligence activities, and provides an excellent platform for deal sourcing, networking and referrals.
In addition, Northleaf has well-resourced Investor Relations and Investor Operations teams which are responsible for all investor relations, fund accounting and reporting activities. The team has extensive private markets experience in cross-border tax, legal, structuring and compliance.
Northleaf’s monitoring and risk management activities are supported by the firm’s investment in state-of-the-art systems and internal controls. Northleaf uses SunGard’s Investran system for integrated portfolio management, fund accounting, investor reporting and relationship management. Northleaf’s Investor Operations team includes two financial programmers who ensure the firm’s systems and reporting capabilities continue to evolve and meet investors’ needs. In early 2011, Northleaf plans to issue a Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Section 5970 Report for 2010. This assurance report will include an audit opinion from Northleaf’s external auditors, Ernst & Young LLP, on the effectiveness of Northleaf’s internal controls.
