Ms. Gurney participates in all aspects of Northleaf’s investment activities, working closely with individual deal teams and external legal counsel on the review, structure, completion and management of primary and secondary Fund Investments and Direct Co-Investments. Ms. Gurney also directs and handles the legal and structural elements of Northleaf’s investor relations, business development and fund formation activities. Ms. Gurney is primarily responsible for managing Northleaf’s regulatory relationships, compliance matters and corporate structure.
Prior to joining Northleaf’s predecessor, TD Capital Private Equity Investors, in 2008, Ms. Gurney was a partner with McCarthy Tétrault, specializing in the structuring and offering of investment funds (including private markets funds) and investment advisor regulation. Ms. Gurney was external counsel to Northleaf from 2004 to 2008.
Ms. Gurney received a B.A. (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario and an LL.B. from Queen’s University.
