George Zakem

Executive Operating Partner

George serves as an Executive Operating Partner for Northleaf’s infrastructure investment program and is a member of the Infrastructure Investment Committee. He is primarily responsible for transaction origination, execution, due diligence and asset management of Northleaf’s infrastructure investments, with a focus on the transportation sector. He also acts as the Asset Manager for a number of Northleaf’s infrastructure investments and serves as a director on several asset-level boards. George is a member of Northleaf’s ESG Committee and leads the Infrastructure ESG Sub-committee.

Prior to joining Northleaf in 2011, George spent a decade at the Macquarie Group, most recently as a Managing Director and head of the Public-Private Partnerships (“PPP”) group in Toronto, where he led numerous greenfield PPP bids, M&A transactions and capital raising initiatives. Previously, he was a Vice President in the Government and Infrastructure Projects Group at TD Securities. Prior to TD Securities, George worked as a project management engineer in the international development field on projects located throughout Asia, South America, the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East.

George received a B.Sc. in Engineering (Mechanical) from the University of New Brunswick and an M.B.A. from Dalhousie University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario.
