Analyst, Investor Operations, Private Credit, Toronto

Northleaf is currently recruiting for an Analyst, Investor Operations to join the growing private credit team. This position will be based in Northleaf’s Toronto office and reports to the Senior Manager, Investor Operations, Private Credit.

The Analyst will work closely with the Senior Analyst and Senior Manager, Investor Operations, Private Credit and the investment team members to perform the investor operations function and will be directly involved in or support investment settlement, transaction processing, fund and portfolio management and performance reporting for private credit investments, while assisting in delivering clear and concise financial reporting to investors. The successful candidate will also work closely with the third-party fund accounting and loan administration provider.


The Analyst, Investor Operations, Private Credit will be a key contributor to the continued growth of the private credit platform.  The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the following business functions:

  • Investment Settlement
  • Transaction Processing
  • Fund and Portfolio Operations
  • Track Record and Performance Analytics
  • Investor Relations and Operations Support

Specific responsibilities will include:

Investment Settlement:

  • Work with counterparties, including the third-party fund accounting and loan administration provider, to support the investment closing/settlement process
  • Assist in the allocation and asset set-up in the portfolio management system

Transaction Processing:

  • Assist with various treasury functions: cash forecasting, investment cash management, f/x hedging, expense management
  • Support central functions on tax, audit and returns analysis
  • Assist with processing investor capital calls and distributions

Fund and Portfolio Operations:

  • Work closely with the third-party fund accounting and loan administration provider to ensure investment and fund transactions are accurately recorded, including review of monthly/quarterly reports and analysis

Track Record and Performance Analytics:

  • Assist with maintaining performance tracking systems, key metrics and benchmarks across the private credit portfolio
  • Assist with maintaining performance metrics/attributes for internal analysis and external investor reporting

Investor Relations and Operations Support:

  • Work with various teams on quarterly valuations, portfolio monitoring, investment performance and investor reporting, including assisting in delivering clear and concise quarterly internal and external reports and financial statements
  • Assist with the external audit of the private credit funds
  • Maintenance of supporting documentation for the year-end financial statement and internal controls audits

Qualifications and Competencies

  • University degree in Accounting or Commerce
  • Financial services experience required (private credit, private equity, infrastructure, alternative investment fund background preferred) (1-3 years experience)
  • Desire to be part of a growing business and work in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge and interest in private markets
  • A self-starter, extremely organized and process-oriented, with an ability to handle a variety of tasks, work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to drill down
  • Professionalism and integrity
  • Strong Excel skills including macros, vlookup and pivot tables
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare/present information in a comprehensive and informative manner
  • Technical proficiency (financial modeling, Excel/PowerPoint; further skills related to use of databases and VBA programming are helpful)
